On April 14th, 1955, in the Julio Molina park in Merida,
Yucatán, the Tigres de Mexico Baseball Club makes its
debut in the Mexican League, representing the consummation
of the hard work of Engineer Alejo Peralta y Díaz
Ceballos, a successful businessman whose passion for the
king of sports leads him to create the feline team at a
time when Mexican baseball was in crisis.
Mr. Alejo gave new life to Mexican baseball, because the
Tigres not only shook the league, becoming champions
during their debut season, but throughout their history
they have revolutionized our game, becoming the first
organization to encourage the development of players with
the creation of farm teams, having full-time talent
scouts, finalizing a labor agreement with major league
organizations and, furthermore, making the first tour in
history to Japan. Furthermore, the Tigres Club, hand in
hand with Mr. Alejo, became the founders of the first
baseball academy in our country, the “ERNESTO PERALTA
QUINTERO ACADEMY,” located in Pasteje.
