HISTORY OF OUR GROUP.
Grupo IUSA had its origins in the business activities started at a
young age by Alejo Peralta y Diaz Ceballos, who studied engineering
at the Higher School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the
National Polytechnic Institute. He finished his studies in 1939 and
that same year he founded Industrias Unidas Sociedad Anónima (IUSA).
The first items produced by the factory he founded were sockets,
fusible plugs, isolators, lightning rods and round grills, among
others. Later, it assembled electricity meters (watt-hour meters)
and manufactured copper and aluminum conductors.
Over time, Alejo Peralta increasingly diversified and integrated the
manufacturing plant and its enterprises. At the same time, he worked
for the modernization of the country, and from 1956 to 1959 he was
director of the National Polytechnic Institute, and in that period
the educational institution saw the normalization of its activities
and a major expansion of its facilities. He also created Channel 11
on television to deliver education and culture to polytechnic
students and society as a whole. In the sports field, he formed the
Tigres baseball team, which continues to be part of the group of
companies he created.
In the 60s, most of the factories belonging to the group were
relocated to Pasteje, in the municipality of Jocotitlan, in the
State of Mexico, thus beginning the industrial decentralization of
Mexico City. In that location, classrooms were built which continue
to provide preschool, basic, secondary school and technical
instruction to factory workers’ children.
In Pasteje, there also are adequately developed, sanitary areas
which allow for a harmonious work environment. Because 65% of its
personnel are women, daycare centers and kindergartens were created.
Currently, Grupo IUSA is the leader in the domestic and
international market for supplying integral solutions for diverse
industrial and construction sectors. One of the main world producers
of copper pipes, IUSA is certified by public and private agencies
such as the Secretary of Social Development, the Federal
Environmental Protection Office, the Fund for Worker Housing, the
Mexican Social Security Institute, the International Association of
Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and NSF International, which
guarantees that the pipes produced by IUSA do not harm public
health.
IUSA is a private capital company which has been able to consolidate
itself and cross borders in consumer markets with efficient
manufacturing plants in several U.S. and Latin American cities.
It offers a wide variety of products which are produced on a daily
basis in the plants in Pasteje, among them: copper pipes and
conductors; electrical connections and devices; gas and water
heaters and controls, circuit breakers, boards and interchangeable
household mechanisms (switches, outlets, universal chassis, light
and volume regulators, and TV, cable and phone output boards),
footwear, controls and valves and its new tomato producer Bionatur,
among many other products.
Grupo IUSA participates in works for the benefit of the community
through the Alejo Peralta Foundation; it is an actor in sports
competitions through the Tigres de Puebla baseball team; it
participates in high technology communications media through
Interdirec, E-Milios, Acelera, etc., in the health sector with the
Lomas Altas Medical Center, and it is an active participant in the
overall economic development of both the State of Mexico and the
entire country.
